she smears,
smiling ear to ear.
The demon was never
the one to fear.
He brought holy light,
morning prayers,
and a heart beating in rhythm
with what he thought
was her distress.
He was wrong
about what he was saving her from.
about who needed saving.
The poem earns its smile
because the knight
never questioned
whose story he was in.

Urg! What a twist of fate at 74—unsheathed her claws. Love the song. How they make the English line sound good in the song is beyond my understanding, though. The one with the Knigh in shining armor lol
